Follow-up calendar

A personalized accompaniment of 7 follow-ups; from the time of pregnancy to age 2 (24 months)

Follow-ups 1 & 2
At 11-13 weeks and 15-16 weeks of pregnancy

During your regular pregnancy follow-ups, you will be invited to begin participating in the MYRNA biobank by contributing specific samples at the time of these visits. This participation does not entail any extra visits to the CHUS.

Follow-up #3
At 30-33 weeks of pregnancy

This follow-up is done via a ZOOM call with a member of the MYRNA research team. It will consist of two detailed questionnaires completed together with our MYRNA researcher and two hours should be set aside for this follow-up.

Follow-up #4
Between birth and 2 months of age

Should your baby be eligible, he/she shall be invited to take an EEG (electroencephalogram) before the age of 2 months. The EEG is done while the baby is asleep, after being fed and it usually takes an hour. This follow-up will require that you both come to the CHUS. Eligibility is determined after your child’s birth.

This follow-up also includes an MRI (magnetic resonance imagery) and questionnaires. The MRI usually takes 30 minutes to complete and is also done while your baby sleeps. Questionnaires will also need to be completed.

When possible, both of these follow-ups are done before the age of 2 months since babies tend to sleep easily through assessments. As they get older, they do not sleep as readily.

Given that there are steps involved to prepare for these assessments, we suggest you plan for a two hour visit. This being said, each test can be done on separate visits should that be more convenient.

Follow-ups 5 & 6
At 6 and 12 months of age

Both of these follow-ups are identical insofar as they involve a Zoom meetings with a member of the MYRNA research team. They are therefore done in the comfort of your own home. The video sessions will be recorded so that your baby’s reactions may be reviewed at a later date, as study progresses. A recorded questionnaire will also be completed together. One should expect to spend 40 minutes to complete the ZOOM video-call.

An additionnel questionnaire will be made available online. This specific questionnaire will assess the quality of your sleep, that of your baby and time spent in front of various electronic devices. This questionnaire will require approximately 15 minutes of your time.

Follow-up #7
At 24 months of age

This follow-up will include an EEG and two standardized assessments of your baby’s development and behaviour. It requires a visit to the CHUS and may take up 2 1/2 hours.
